BANISH PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: August 29, 2026
Last Updated: August 29, 2026
BANISH ("BANISH," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Lauren Melzer, a sole proprietor. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, disclosed, and protected when you use the BANISH mobile application, website at banishthat.com, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
Your privacy is especially important to us because BANISH gives you a place to write thoughts you want to let go of.
The thoughts you enter into BANISH are not stored by us. We cannot read them. They are not sent to an AI provider, RevenueCat, advertisers, or any other third party.
1. Information You Enter Into BANISH
BANISH allows you to type thoughts as part of the banishing experience.
These thoughts are designed to be temporary.
BANISH does not store the content of the thoughts you enter after the banishing process is completed. We do not maintain a database containing your banished thoughts, and BANISH's operator cannot access or read the content you enter through this feature.
Your thought content is not used to:
train artificial intelligence models;
generate advertising profiles;
personalize advertisements;
sell information about you;
analyze the substance of your thoughts; or
create psychological or behavioral profiles about you.
BANISH does not send the content of your thoughts to an artificial intelligence provider or other third party.
2. Information We May Collect
You may use certain features of BANISH without creating an account.
If you choose to provide information to BANISH, we may collect:
your name;
your email address;
communications you send to us, including support requests; and
information necessary to provide or manage purchases and access to paid features.
We collect this information only when necessary to provide the Services, communicate with you, provide customer support, manage your access, or comply with legal obligations.
3. Purchases and RevenueCat
BANISH offers paid access, which may include annual subscription options and lifetime purchase options.
Purchases made through a mobile app store are processed by the applicable platform, such as Apple. BANISH does not directly receive or store your complete payment card information.
BANISH uses RevenueCat to help manage in-app purchases, subscriptions, purchase validation, and access to paid features.
RevenueCat may process information associated with purchases and subscriptions, including purchase history, transaction information, subscription status, technical information, and an app user identifier.
RevenueCat does not receive the thoughts you enter into BANISH through the banishing feature.
RevenueCat's handling of information is governed by its own privacy practices.
4. How We Use Information
Information collected by BANISH may be used to:
operate and provide the Services;
provide access to purchased features;
manage subscriptions and purchases;
respond to customer-support requests;
communicate with you about the Services;
maintain the security and integrity of BANISH;
troubleshoot technical problems;
enforce our Terms of Use; and
comply with applicable laws.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use the content of your banished thoughts for advertising or marketing.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We may use service providers when reasonably necessary to operate BANISH.
Currently, BANISH uses RevenueCat for purchase and subscription management.
These providers may process limited information necessary to perform their services on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy and security obligations.
Most importantly, the content of thoughts entered into BANISH is not provided to these service providers.
6. Artificial Intelligence
BANISH does not send the thoughts you enter into the banishing feature to OpenAI or another artificial intelligence provider.
Your banished thoughts are not used by BANISH to train artificial intelligence models.
If BANISH introduces AI-powered functionality in the future that changes how user information is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate before such practices are implemented.
7. Data Retention
The content of thoughts entered into the banishing feature is not retained by BANISH after the banishing process is completed.
Other personal information, such as information you voluntarily provide to us, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain legitimate business records.
Purchase and subscription information may be retained by the applicable app store and RevenueCat according to their respective policies and applicable legal requirements.
8. Your Privacy Choices and Deletion Requests
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that BANISH maintains about you, subject to applicable law and legitimate recordkeeping requirements.
Because BANISH does not retain the content of your banished thoughts, there is ordinarily no stored thought history for us to retrieve or delete.
Requests may be submitted to:
We may need to verify your request before completing certain privacy requests.
9. Children's Privacy
BANISH is intended for users age 13 and older.
BANISH is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to BANISH, please contact us at Lauren@banishthat.com so we can investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.
Parents and guardians should consider whether BANISH is appropriate for their child based on the child's individual circumstances.
10. Mental Health and Sensitive Information
BANISH is a general wellness and self-reflection tool. It is not a medical or mental-health service.
BANISH does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, psychotherapy, counseling, crisis intervention, or mental-health treatment.
Information entered into BANISH should not be considered communication with a doctor, therapist, counselor, or other healthcare professional.
BANISH is not designed to monitor users for emergencies or identify whether someone may be at risk of harming themselves or another person. Because BANISH does not monitor the content of thoughts entered into the banishing feature, you should not use BANISH as a way to seek emergency assistance.
If you believe you or another person is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.
11. Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information in our possession.
However, no electronic system, device, network, or method of transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
One of BANISH's primary privacy protections is data minimization: the content of banished thoughts is not retained by BANISH after the banishing process is completed.
12. California Privacy Rights
California residents may have certain rights regarding their personal information under applicable California privacy laws.
Depending on the law applicable to your information, these rights may include requesting information about personal information we maintain, requesting correction or deletion, and obtaining information regarding how personal information is used or disclosed.
BANISH does not sell personal information.
Privacy requests may be submitted to Lauren@banishthat.com.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as BANISH evolves or as legal requirements change.
When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may provide additional notice where required by law.
Your continued use of BANISH following an update is subject to the updated Privacy Policy.
